Celtic came from 2-0 down to claim an important victory in the Downtown Cup.
United started the brightest going at the Celtic defence firing from long range on a couple of occasions. Shane O'Donnell found the net from 20yards after 10mins. United pressed again and scored 5mins later when Michael Barry reacted quickest to a loose ball and fired to the back of the net to make it 2-0. United came close twice more with Noel Diver clearing of the line and John McGinley producing a great double save. Celtic eventually woke up and nearly pulled one back with Colin Ferry failing to connect with McNeilis cross. Celtic did manage to pull one back before half time when Ciaran Ferry fired home from close range on 37mins to make it 2-1.
Second half saw a rejuvenated Celtic go at United from the off trying a few long range efforts before Noel Diver crossed for Colin Ferry to slot home to make it 2-2 on 70mins. United pressed for the winner but couldn't find a way through the Celtic defence. Eamonn Mcgee broke into the United box going past two men before passing to Colin Ferry who slotted home to make it 3-2 with 5mins remaining.
Best for United was Shane O'Donnell
Best for Celtic was Noel Diver and Joseph Boner
